Centrifuges are used for the fine treatment of suspen-sions. In a rotating drum, the solid particles, which have a higher density than the liquid, move outward due to centrifugal force. A screw conveyor continuously trans-ports the solids to the discharging side. The liquid phase flows off in the opposite direction along the screw. In particular, fine particles such as silt and clay can be separated. The dewatering result can be addi-tionally improved by the use of additives.
