The recording from UseR Oslo's meetup on August 26th, 2021 - https://www.meetup.com/Oslo-useR-Grou... • Code used in the presentation can be found here: • Overview of resources from Wolfgang Viechtbauer: https://www.wvbauer.com/doku.php/pres... • Direct link to the code: https://www.wvbauer.com/lib/exe/fetch... • Direct link to the slides: https://www.wvbauer.com/lib/exe/fetch... • [Abstract] • {metafor} offers a comprehensive collection of functions for conducting meta-analyses in R. The package includes functions to calculate various effect sizes or outcome measures, fit fixed-, random-, and mixed-effects models, carry out moderator and meta-regression analyses, and create various types of meta-analytical plots (e.g., forest, funnel, radial, L'Abbé, Baujat, bubble, or GOSH plots). For meta-analyses of binomial and person-time data, the package also provides functions that implement specialized methods, including the Mantel-Haenszel method, Peto's method, and a variety of suitable generalized linear (mixed-effects) models (i.e., mixed-effects logistic and Poisson regression models). Finally, the package provides functionality for fitting meta-analytic multivariate/multilevel models that account for non-independent sampling errors and true effects (e.g., due to the inclusion of multiple treatment studies, multiple endpoints, or other forms of clustering). Network meta-analyses and meta-analyses accounting for known correlation structures (e.g., due to phylogenetic relation) can also be conducted. • [Bio] • Wolfgang Viechtbauer is an Associate Professor of methodology and statistics in the Department of Psychiatry and Neuropsychology and the School for Mental Health and Neuroscience at Maastricht University in the Netherlands and the Center for Contextual Psychiatry at the University of Leuven in Belgium. His research is primarily focused on the statistical methods used for meta-analysis with particular emphasis on software development, but his interests more generally encompass the design and analysis of longitudinal and multilevel studies using appropriate mixed-effects models.
