#WestKyRevival #TheRiver #History • The history of The River began in 1946! Camp meetings were held for weeks at a time every summer in Nortonville. The crowds were large and sinners would wonder in off the streets to be born again. Some of the new converts united with Rev. Henry Stephens to form a non-denominational tabernacle. • On sept 23, 1946, a lot was purchased for $150. The congregation grew and on June 6, 1976, Under the leadership of Pastor James Gunn, Trinity Gospel Tabernacle held a dedication service for a new addition to the older building. The original church was used for Sunday school rooms and a fellowship hall. • Pastors Howard and Joanne Jones became our pastors in 1987. The church grew and the name was shortened to TGT and then later, as the vision expended for renewal and revival, the church was called The River at TGT. A larger building was needed, so plans were made to purchase land on Hwy 62 and step out into faith for a larger facility. • On the morning of march 23, 2003, the congregation met at the main street building and caravanned to the new 21,000 square foot facility. It was at this time that TGT was dropped from the name and we became The River. • The River has experienced extended times of revival and has seen many saved, healed, set free, and made whole. Our four core values are that we believe in Faith, Family, the Fire of God, and Freedom. We believe that God is pouring out His spirit in Kentucky. We were born out of the overflow of revival and have become a revival center for the West Ky Region along with other churches in our area. • www.2theriver.com
