Disney Death Star

This is a little project that I have been wanting to do since I saw this picture: • http://www.orangeinks.com/design/the-... • Kudos to whoever drew that. Thanks for the template! And thanks Disney for the good memories that this old musical theme brings back. (I claim fair use if there is any trouble). The stuff flying off after the explosion were the remaining pieces of the classic Disney castle off screen. If you look carefully you can see chunks of the flagged towers. • For the record, this was all done in Autodesk Maya, Student Edition. The video was assembled in Sony Vegas. • In addition to all the meshes (including a vertex-by-vertex plane trace of Mr. Disney's signature), there is: • 1 ambient light • 3 spot lights (with child planes with ramps mapped to their transparencies) • 1 point light • several backgrounds and transparent light reflectors for those backgrounds • 15 different materials • 9 particle emitters for the laser, each with their own timing and aim constraints • a lot of fun in the graph editor • Yeah, I could have done a lot of this in After Effects, but I don't have it, and besides, it was fun doing it in maya :).
