a local ocracoke historian gives us a briefing on the the lighthouse on ocracoke island. • you are not able to go up into the lighthouse, however, the history is interesting. it is only open to the public at certain times, I'll put a link to the website below so you can find out when you can go inside. • even if no one is there to let you in , it is part of the national parks system so you can walk on a boardwalk past the old lighthouse keepers quarters and get close to it. • this is the 2nd oldest operating lighthouse in the national. it is operated by the coast guard. • the interior has never flooded, which was interesting as last October it was reported that the entire island was under 4 feet of water. • at the end of the video is me videoing the traffic on ocracoke island on a lazy, hazy, sea salty, humid, ocraocke island day. • enjoy! • https://www.nps.gov/caha/planyourvisi...
