Good morning, Venice high school and welcome to the October 13th episode of VTV news I’m Tristyn Jordaan and I’m Finn Pinchak and here are your morning announce-ments • Homecoming is October 21st and while that is exciting there are still some requirements you have in meet to get in • you can have No more than three unexcused absences No out of school suspensions • No second chance behavior agreements • and no more than two discipline referrals. • we’ll now be showing a video about one of Venice's homecomings form the past. • don't forget to mark down these upcoming college visits. • Next week is spirit week, but don’t forget that there is no school on Monday • We have Tropical Tuesday, • Sports Wednesday so wear your favorite team jersey, • Thursday is class color and object day, • Freshman are purple with crazy socks • Sophomores are red with sunglasses • Juniors are green and crowns • Seniors are black with Hawaiian leis, • Friday is Spirit Day so wear your VHS clothing for the pep- rally and here is the sched-ule, • And Saturday is Homecoming! Theme is Hawaiian, Tickets are thirty dollars. There will be food trucks so bring extra cash! • • There will be Powderpuff volleyball on October 16th staring at 6pm • There will be a Powderpuff football game On October 18th starting at 6pm • and Now for our student spotlight. • This month is Cyber Security Awareness. So, we would like to highlight facts about Phishing • Phishing is when scammers will message people and convince them to give up their private info. Examples of this are scam calls and sus messages asking you to click on shady links • This is also the most common form of cybercrime • on November 2 at STC’s main campus there is an Engineering Luncheon we encour-age juniors and seniors to go. • Participating students will network with local manufacturing and engineering industry employers, current undergraduate engineering college students, and get a free lunch! It is sponsored by SAMA or (Sarasota-Manatee Area Manufacturers Association), UF’s College of Engineering, and the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. • • The manufacturing and engineering industries include tons of career possibilities! Lo-cal professionals joining us include FPL, Mote Marine, PGT, Sun Hydraulics, Pierce Manufacturing, RND Automation, Bartelt, and more! • Students sign up through their SchooLinks accounts. Lists of interested students will be sent to school-based administration for approvals before the field trip; each high school has 25 spots. • now for a quick commercial break • After that nostalgic look at Venice's past make sure to come out for tonight's game Varsity Football vs. Sarasota 7:30 PM. • we will have Miss USA , Noelia Voigt, as our Honorary Captain she will flip the coin at midfield before the start of the game.. Noelia grew up in Nokomis and played volleyball at Venice High. • • Science National Honor Society will be selling “tricks” or “treats” for the month of Octo-ber. For $1 anyone can “trick” a friend with a fake cockroach, or “treat” a friend with a candy! I’ve attached a form if you’d like to purchase any yourself; you can complete it and put the form with the money in my mailbox on the 3rd floor. (Half of the proceeds will be donated to American Cancer Society.) • • These tricks and treats will be delivered during 1st period on 10/31 – I apologize in ad-vance for any inconvenience or disruptions this may cause. See any SNHS member for details and reach out if you have any questions. • Finn; The Venice Poetry Club will be hosting its next meeting on Monday the 10/16 in Mr. Crocker's room: 4-246 from 2:25 to 3:10 after school.
