In 1554 after a gruelling process of casting the bronze statue, Perseus and the head of Medusa was placed in the loggia Dei Lanzi and it is there ever since! It was the first bronze statue where the bottom (the decapitated body of medusa) was not cast separately from the standing figure (Perseus).
