This was kind of a hidden bonus track off of her newest record, Ultraviolence. So the most important thing to know about this song, is that the original track doesn't have any drums in it. It's guitar and vocals only. Also upon rehearsing, I discovered that Lana doesn't record to a click. So, that made this already challenge, more challenging :) she tends to sit a little behind the beat, which I absolutely love- it gives her music such an amazing vibe- I wrestled with the idea of doing this for a while, because Lana is my favorite, and it made me so nervous writing drum parts for her song!! ha I really wanted the drums to compliment the song as much as possible. And her music is very different from any other video I've done. But for quite some time now, I've found it to be my comfort zone stylistically- focusing more on dynamics, feel, and pocket have been my main focus lately- this video was SO much fun to make, and has absolutely ended up being my favorite one I've ever done. From the writing, to the recording, to the mixing and edits- it was an awesome process.
