๐ทHerpes Simplex Virus Keratitis๐ท • ๐ HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) keratitis is an infection of the cornea that is caused by HSV. • ๐ HSV keratitis is a major cause of blindness worldwide. • ๐The infection usually heals without damaging the eye, but more severe infections can lead to scarring of the cornea or blindness. • ๐ Eye pain, tearing, redness, a feeling like a foreign object is in the eye (foreign body sensation), and sensitivity to bright light are common symptoms. • ๐ The more often the infection recurs, the more likely is further damage to the surface of the cornea. • ๐ Several recurrences may result in the formation of deep ulcers, permanent scarring, blood vessels that grow onto the cornea, and numbness of the eye surface. • ๐ / @visualsystem • ——— • ๐ค J.R.
