Hi all • OMD’s “Maid Of Orleans” is a song about Joan of Arc from 15th century France. She claimed to hear divine messages to help drive out the English. She was captured, tried and convicted for heresy, blasphemy and refusal to submit to the church and then executed by burning at the stake. Years later, another court re-investigated the trial and found numerous problems and the verdict was overturned. She became a patron saint of France. • The song, Maid of Orleans, is a nice tribute to joan of Arc and was written in 1981, 550 years after Joan of Arc’s death. • What a great story and a great song.
