A total solar eclipse that plunged a big part of North America into darkness Monday captivated millions of Americans who either live or traveled within the path of totality. • In Oklahoma, adults and kids looked on in wonder. In Carbondale, Illinois, crowds cheered in excitement as totality — the period of time when the moon's shadow completely covers the sun — hit.
