ILMN uses genetic editing in an attempt to edit DNA. There has been a ton of type around Illumina stock so in this video I will cut through all the noise and tell you if I would buy this stock now. • Illumina has an excellent operating history, having double digit growth rates in book value, earnings, cash flows, and sales, while earning double digit ROE and ROIC. They also have a very low level of debt. This points to the quality of the management team and their ability to reinvest back into the business to create higher profits, and the sustainable competitive advantage of the company to keep their earnings growing over such a long period of time. • Illumina has historically been valued at 50 times earnings. If we plug this into the intrinsic value calculator, the fair value for ILMN stock is estimated to be around $222. This is a lot lower than the current price of over $300 where it is now. For this reason I wouldn't buy this stock now since it is just too expensive. The graphs show us that when this stock dips it usually bottoms out at around a 37-40 times earnings valuation before it jumps back up. • Overall this is one of the highest quality companies around and one I would definitely feel comfortable owning.
