Classic Sugar Donuts – You can be as creative as you can to the choices of toppings you desire. Sprinkle with confetti, dip into chocolate sauce, spread with peanut butter, etc. You can name it all. As for me, plain donuts with sugar is already heavenly. Hope you’re inspired to make your homemade donuts for your love ones. Enjoy! • Ingredients: (for approximately 10-12 donuts) • 300g (2 cups) plain flour • 50g (1/4 cup) unsalted butter (softened) • 2 tsp instant dry yeast • 20g (1½ tbsp) fine sugar • 1 tsp salt • 1 egg • 130g (1/2 cup + 2 tbsp) full cream milk • 1 tsp vanilla extract • Topping: • ½ cup of powdered sugar • ½ cup of fine sugar • Instructions: • 1. In a large mixing bowl, add in all the ingredients. Mix in low speed for about 2 minutes until the dough comes together. Then increase to medium speed and mix for another 7-8 minutes. • 2. Check the dough by pinching some of it. Stretch it as thin as you can. If the dough doesn’t break easily, this show the dough is good to go. If the dough breaks into a hole easily, throw it back into the mixer and mix for another 2 minutes. Check the dough again. • 3. Transfer the dough onto a clean table top. Form the dough into a ball. Put it into a greased bowl. Cover with cling film and let it rest for about 1 ½ hour to 2 hours or until size doubled. The time needed to prove the dough depends on your weather or room temperature. • 4. When the size has doubled, transfer onto a clean table top. Spread some flour on the table if the dough is too sticky to control. Roll the dough flat for about ½ inch thick. I don’t have a dough cutter, so I improvised my own cutter by using a round cutter and a piping tip. Cut the dough for about 8 pieces. Remove the remaining dough. You may roll it flat with the same process to make another 3-4 pieces. Cover with a tea towel and let it sit for about 30 minutes. • 5. Preheat fryer in medium heat and then lower the heat to low. Deep fry the donuts into the heated oil, each side for about 1 minutes. While it is frying, slowly remove the papers.** Turn the other side and fry for another minutes until brown. Pick the donuts with an oil strainer and rest it on napkins for cooling. • 6. In a smaller bowl, add in the powdered sugar and fine sugar. Roll the donuts on the sugar until it covers the entire donut. Place it on a serving plate and ready to serve. • ** The reason why I do this is so that I don't use my bare hands which might disturb the well fermented dough or deflating it. Another reason is when I place the paper into the oil, the hot oil will not splash and this will prevent from burning your hands. • Follow me at: • Facebook:   / gracioustreatz   • Instagram: @gracioustreatz • Twitter: @gracioustreatz • Google+: @gracioustreatz • Background music: • Breaking Free by HookSounds http://www.hooksounds.com/ Creative Commons — Attribution 4.0 International — CC BY 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...
