Zhangjiajie is a city and a national park in the northwestern part of Hunan Province, China. It is renowned for its breathtaking landscape of towering sandstone pillars, deep ravines, and dense forests. It gained worldwide fame for inspiring the Hallelujah Mountains, in the movie “Avatar”. It is actually a part of the much larger Wulingyuan Scenic Area, which was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. • James Cameron, the director of the 2009 film Avatar, was inspired by the site's breathtaking scenery and brought it newfound attention. It is called the most poetic stream in the world. • Huangshi Village is the ideal location to get a broad perspective of the splendor of multiple tall stone peaks arranged side by side. • Another attraction which amazes travelers is the Yellow Dragon Cave, also known as “the Most Beautiful Cave in China”. • If you have the time, Tianmen Mountain is a stunning and exhilarating destination that is well worth adding an extra day to your schedule.
