He falls in love with Persephone the goddess of spring, the daughter of Zeus, and Demeter the goddess of harvest. He makes a deal with his brother to make Persephone his bride. He steals her against her will and takes her to the underworld. Demeter finds out that her daughter is missing and blame Zeus for it. Persephone tries to escape from the underworld but in the end, falls in love with Hades. They get married but Demeter is desperate and depressed because of Persephone's absence. The earth begins to dry up and humans and animals are dying of lack of food. Zeus gets worried because Demeter doesn't care about Earth anymore. He sends Hermes to the Underworld to find Persephone and bring her back to her mother. Zeus decides that Persephone should spend two seasons with her husband in the underworld and two seasons with her mother in Olympus. Persephone convinces her mother that she loves Hades and he loves her back.
