Convection GCSE Physics

############################# Video Source: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PI171ww4yeA

This video introduces the topic of convection. When a fluid (liquid or gas) is heated it expands, becomes less dense and rises up. When a fluid (liquid or gas) cools it condenses, becomes more dense and sinks. This is called convection. • Convection causes hot pockets within a fluid to rise and cold pockets to sink. This is why the water at the top of a hot bath is warmer than at the bottom and is the cause of convection currents. • Thanks for watching, • Lewis • Relevant for GCSE Physics 9-1 in the following exam boards: • AQA (including Trilogy) (not specifically relevant but recommended) • Edexcel (Physics only) • WJEC (Higher only) • CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) IGCSE • Edexcel International IGCSE • _____________________________________ • MY PHYSICS WEBSITES • Find even more videos organised by exam board and topic at: • GCSE Physics Online • ► https://www.gcsephysicsonline.com • A Level Physics Online • ► https://www.alevelphysicsonline.com • MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL • Your support in watching this video has been invaluable!
