You can find that video here: • Kitchener, Ontario: Downtown Driving ... • A drive through downtown Kitchener, Ontario, Canada on August 8, 2017. Starting on Victoria Street, we turn left on King Street, traveling the length of downtown before turning right on Madison Ave. and right again on Charles Street to travel back to Victoria Street. We then turn right onto Duke Street to complete the tour. • Kitchener, Ontario is a city located 100 kilometres west of Toronto. Now the seat of the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Kitchener was founded in 1833 and incorporated as the town of Berlin in 1853. Incorporation as a city came in 1912 and the Berlin name stuck until 1916. • The population of Kitchener is 233,000 (up from 150,000 in 1986) and the metro population is around 525,000 with that number including Waterloo and Cambridge. • Seen throughout the video is the Grand River Transit's Light Rail Transit line. This system of electric trains is slated to start operation in 2018. The downtown portion looks to be mostly complete. The LRT will connect Conestoga Mall in Waterloo to Fairview Park Mall in Kitchener via a 19 KM line. In the end, their will be 36 kilometres of rail line with 22 stops connecting the three major centres of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. • We have a video of the adjacent city of Waterloo, ending pretty much where this video starts.
