Trilobites were extremely successful and diverse arthropods that lived for almost 300 million years, survived several mass exintction events, and dominated almost every ecological niche in Paleozoic seas! In this video, I discuss th extinction events trilobites survived, the impact of these extinction events on trilobite diversity and abundance, why trilobites were so successful and long lived, and what finally led to the extinction of the trilobites at the end of the Permian during the greatest extinction event of all time, the Great Dying!
