Let's look back at this day in history. July eight, 2004. The U.S. government unsealed an indictment against former Enron Corp. chairman Kenneth Lay. They allege he helped guide a massive conspiracy to deceive investors. It was a slow moving but still stunning fall from grace for a company that went from the seventh largest in the U.S. to the largest ever bankruptcy filing. And a stunning fall from grace for its founder and chairman and Ken Lay, who went from a personal fortune of at least $400 million to being a convicted felon.
