King Welly's Free Funk Jam • Latest Music Bar • Manchester Street, Brighton, East Sussex, UK. • Monday 11th December. 8.30pm. £Free • Feeling like a ground down wallah? …Be creative? • Come down ‘Joe Public’ and cook a funky groove; belt it out and tear it up, or sing you hot momma? Find a hot-spot to perform, park your arse, drink a beer, chat or jive…. it might relieve some tension! Perhaps, the slippery, slide towards Alcoholism is even optional? • …His Nibbs • The Footage: • A Funky Groove 001 • King Welly's Free Funk Jam, 001 took about 25 minutes to upload at 24Ghz Virgin op-tical. • A Funky Groove 002 / 54gagfwkve • A Funky Groove 003 • King Welly's Free Funk Jam, 003 • A Funky Groove 004 • King Welly's Free Funk Jam, 004 • A Funky Groove 005 • King Welly's, Free Funk Jam, Brighton... • A Funky Groove 006 • The Nerdy stuff …yawn! What a rant! • It was about 7.30am Tuesday morning when I plugged in the anti-surge extension lead and all the lights and sockets went out. A while later it tran-spired that the blue neutral lead was off the anti-surge, circuit board and the fuse needed changing. • These are free 720p videos, as the account is free. I do not advertise to monetize either. • Yes, the balance is not right and there was no sound level meter or control for that on the video camera… No fade ins or out either …tusk tusk! No multiple shots or radio mikes, no slow pans, no close ups and distant shots, no transitions, and effects, either. The picture is grainy and the white balance? The bass end is a bit lacking in depth too! Not ponsey enough for you? …tough, diddums! • Maximum file size on a USB stick is 2.1GB for cus-tom export, of a .mov to there, that is, a drop down to about 20 mbps to encode; to watch such a H.264 quality track, on a modern flat screen TV, if that works! I don’t have one of those TVs either! • Edited file 001 eventually custom saved at 16Mbps MPEG-4, but it took too long and the computer crashed. • It is clearly not a good idea to save media files to a USB stick, work on those, then save edited video to the same stick! • So, I tried saving 002 to an external hard drive in-stead. That worked, but took a long time. I then tried saving 003 to a Sandisk Ultra SD card… a bit faster! • 12.31 pm. Urgh… Time for brunch! • I wondered if switching mains switches caused any glitching on 004? • Then… the Arborio rice boiled over in the micro-wave. Humm… I drizzled the rice with light soy and served with peppered salmon fried in olive oil, with micro-waved frozen green beans side. • I recently heard about £259 Elac B5 loudspeakers through a £169 Onyko Stereo amplifier and was amazed at how good it sounded, as in really top notch. Mind you the geeza did have a DAC for the CD player and speaker stands. • Actually, Logictech 2 times 1 and a half inch speak-ers and 4 inch sub, powered computer speakers sound good. At around £36 these are a real bargain for playing .mp3s DAB or TV etc! • The £248ish a pair, 82 Watt digitally powered, JBL 3 monitors sound really very good and have a sharply steep crossover; which gives you a point source, as both the 1 inch dome and 5 inch bass loudspeaker are not reproducing much of the same sound. The less directional sound means less of a need to sit in the stereo sweet spot too which adds ambience. Any line source plugs straight in. A turntable would need a phono stage. • 6 hours editing later… • Regards… • ‘The Turd Polisher’ Yuk! • Oi Shearing: ‘Take up Topiary!’ • The footage looks a bit grainy and the faces too white on a TV!
