Archive footage - onboard instrument view: Philanthropist and businessman John Caudwell won an auction lot to be a passenger in a former RAF Lightning fighter jet as an attempt was made to set a world record to climb to 9,000 metres over Cape Town, South Africa. John, a fixed wing and helicopter pilot, was in the passenger seat as the record was set at 102 seconds from brakes-off to the 9km high target.
