During a recent University of Maryland, Department of Fire Protection Engineering testing project through our FireTec program, a pack of lithium ion batteries was subjected to a small fire. This 300 frames per second video filmed by Prof. Gollner shows the reaction of these battery packs to a small pool fire placed below. Venting, sparking, ejection of cartridges and even small explosions are shown.
