Berserk Guts Theme Piano

The theme song for Guts, the wandering swordsman that struggles between seeking revenge for his fallen comrades and protecting those close to him. • This is a rather peaceful and longing theme for a character that suffered so much. • When thinking about the structure of this piece, it can be divided into two different sections, A and B, with each having a transition section in them as well. • The A theme is rather simple in terms of harmonic complexity, sustaining over an E major chord for its entirety, but it's this simplicity that makes it so reflective and peaceful. In the original recording, there are strings that are sustained throughout this section. The piano can't sustain notes like strings can, so I repeated playing the sustained notes at the beginning of each measure. • I think what makes this B section so impactful is that it offers some dichotomy after the simplicity of the A section.
