Welcome to Bonita's Kitchen! • Today we will be making Boiled Raisin Cake, it is so delicious! • See recipe below. • Our website link: https://www.bonitaskitchen.com • Our cookbooks link: https://www.bonitaskitchen.com/cookbook • Ingredients: • 1 pkg. raisins • 2 cups sugar • 1 cup butter or margarine • 1 tsp cinnamon • 1 tsp cloves • ——————————— • 3 cups cold water • 1 tsp baking soda • 4 cups flour • 1 tsp salt • 1 tsp baking powder • Method: • 1 - In a saucepan add top 5 ingredients and bring to a boil for 10-15 minute on low simmer heat, then remove from heat. • 2 - Then add baking soda to cold water and add to mixture to cool. • 3 - Sift in flour, salt and baking powder to mixture. • 4 - Pour batter into a pre greased cake pan or bunt. • 5 - Pre-heat oven to 300ºF. • 6 - When oven is ready bake for 1½ or less, depending on your oven or until baked. • 7 - Serve with any topping or sauce. • Use any type of pan for baking your cake. • If you like a sauce to go over the top type one of the two below. • WHITE CREAM SAUCE: • 2 tbsp butter to margarine ½ cup warm water 1/8 tsp nutmeg Orange Zest • ½ cup milk ½ tsp almond extract lemon zest • 1/3 cup white sugar 2 tbsp flour or corn starch with ¼ cup cold water ( mix in mason jar ) • In a small saucepan add butter, milk, water and sugar let warm and stir occasionally. • In a mason jar add flour and cold water, shack together until no lumps seen. • Slowly mix in with saucepan hot mixture, until it starts to go thick. Remove from heat add almond extract continue stirring. Cover put to the side for pouring over, while hot. • Caramel Sauce: • 2 tbsp butter  • 1 cup dark brown sugar • ¼ cup evaporate milk or milk of choice. • 1 tbsp whiskey (optional ) • 1 tbsp vanilla  • Caramel Sauce: • In a saucepan, melt butter; add sugar vanilla whisking to blend well. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. (Do not allow to simmer, or it may curdle.) Whisk in milk , Remove from heat add whiskey . Whisk before serving.
