Hello, this is Pier and Chiara, your Sommelier and Wine Country experts. After some years in California, we decided to return to Langhe to showcase the beauty of our countryside and home. For us, it is all about great stories and unforgettable flavors. • Oneonthehill is a wine food community based in Alba, Italy, born out of our creativity and passion. • A Wine Club, shipping our selection of hand crafted, small-production wines worldwide. • Charming accommodations and authentic experiences, to live Piemonte like a local. • Subscribe and stay tuned for the next Piemonte adventure. Welcome to our world! • ARTISANAL WINES VS MASS PRODUCED WINES • TASTE: ever wondered why wine experts, Sommelier and wine enthusiasts always end up choosing artisanal wines? Well, from a purely technical standpoint, their taste is extremely interesting compared to mass-produced wines. Commercial wines tend to standardize their taste because their goal is consistency and predictability. Everything, from the farming choices to the winemaking practices is about “business”. Your wine will taste and look the same as much as possible. An easy comparison? the burger from the local shop with grass-fed beef and locally sourced cheese and veggies vs Mcdonalds. • Artisanal wines focus on expressing their soil, their grapes and their vintage, providing a sense of place through the glass and a much deeper cultural experience. • SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES Many artisanal wineries (all the producers we work with for our Club selection) prioritize sustainability and environmental responsibility. They often use organic or biodynamic farming methods, minimizing chemical use and preserving the natural balance of the ecosystem. By supporting artisanal wines, you're not just enjoying great taste – you're also contributing to a healthier planet. • PEOPLE When you buy artisanal wines, you're not just purchasing a product – you're supporting a community of passionate winemakers. These are often family-owned businesses who pour their heart and soul into every bottle. This was one of the main reasons that made us choose for a WIne Club model: we lived in California and we often saw these lonely bottles on the shelf without anybody telling the story and the heritage of the farmers making the wine. • DISCOVERY AND EXPLORATION I always saw wine as a way to travel the world. Artisanal wine is deeply intertwined with the culture it comes from: the grape varietals, the farming methods, the winemaking techniques, the relationship with the local food, every bottle is an opportunity to expand your palate, your knowledge and deepen your appreciation for the world. • HEALTH Last time I checked, wine is made from grapes (you will not believe how little grapes you can find in some commercial wines, but that’s for another video). Artisanal winemakers use what we call a “minimalistic” or “low intervention” approach towards their craft, so that the bottle of wine on your table will be made of 100% pure grape juice. This requires a lot of work, care and attention to every single step. • Commercial wineries, on the other hand, cannot afford to waste time and effort and are looking to produce wine at a large scale, so they prefer to introduce chemical elements in their vineyard and winery to “manipulate” their final product. • https://winemakermag.com/resource/121... • https://drinktinto.com/blogs/wine-wis... • https://mysa.wine/blogs/no-mog-blog/l... • • Pier Chiara • IG: www.instagram.com/oneonthehill • Website: www.oneonthehill.com • Business inquiries: [email protected] • Subscribe to our mailing list: https://www.oneonthehill.com • Join our Wine Club: https://www.oneonthehill.com/wineclub/
