The FN Scar 16 is one of the most iconic and recognizable rifles of the modern age. With a major pop culture presence in movies and video games (most recently the TAQ-56 in COD: MW2) as well as real world use with U.S. SOCOM, many people can casually identify it without being an enthusiast. The Scar 16 is chambered in 5.56x45 and saw less use than the larger Scar 17 (SCAR-H, Scar Heavy) chambered in 7.62x51, but has still become popular and sought after in its own right. For me personally, the Scar 16s has been a holy grail style firearm that I've wanted to own for many years, and it has lived up to the hype for me. The Scar 16 also appears in the latest Call of Duty (COD:MW2) Modern Warfare 2 game as the TAQ-56 IRL. • I have owned my FN Scar 16s in FDE (Flat Dark Earth) for over 4 years and its current configuration is nearly perfect in my opinion. I fired 260 rounds in this range session without a single failure, and I was blown away at how well it ran suppressed with my Dead Air Sandman S suppressor on the OEM FN 10 barrel. I'm also running an Eotech XPS2-0 holographic sight with an Eotech G33 3x magnifier, a Parker Mountain Machine PRE rail extension kit, BCD (BAD Lever), MIAD pistol grip and extended safety, Parker Mountain Machine gas jets, Troy vertical grip, GG G enhanced charging handle, Kinetic Development Group QD sling swivels, a Dead Air Flash Hider and a Geissele Super Scar trigger. • The Scar 16 (aka SCAR-L or Scar Light) has a unique recoil impulse with an extremely reliable short-stroke gas piston setup, a reciprocating charging handle, and the classic Ugg Boot style stock. With the suppressor setting from the factory combined with the Parker Mountain Machine gas jets, it's an incredibly smooth rifle when shot suppressed with my Dead Air Sandman S. • This is the first video in a new series comparing Short Stroke Gas Piston rifles - the Scar 16 versus the Sig Sauer MCX Virtus versus the CZ Bren 2 MS. I'll be releasing individual videos on the MCX and Bren 2 next, and then I will close the series off with a massive comparison video going into extensive detail on the differences in between the 3 rifles. It should be a fun time!
