☆ Laniakea Supercluster : Our Home Cluster !!! • • Laniakea Supercluster is a Group of Galaxy clusters which spans for about 520 million light years in diameter. It comprises of 100,000 galaxies. It has a mass 10¹⁷ times more than our sun !!! • • It was defined in September 2014, when a group of astronomers published a new way of defining superclusters according to the relative velocities of galaxies. • • Laniakea Supercluster consists of 4 separate superclusters : • 1. Virgo Supercluster : The Milky Way is a part of this supercluster. It has about 100 galaxy groups and clusters within it's enormous diameter of 110 million light years. • 2. Hydra-Centaurus Supercluster :- This Supercluster consists of Hydra Supercluster and Centaurus Supercluster. This Supercluster has the Great Attractor. Great Attractor is a large object which is known as the center of Laniakea Supercluster. It cannot be observed because it comes under Zone of Avoidance (a region in the night sky which cannot be observed due to dust particles and other objects coming in between). • 3. Pavo-Indus Supercluster :- It is located in Pavo and Indus constellations, ftom where it got it's name. It also consists of the famous Norma Supercluster. • 4. Southern Supercluster :- This Supercluster includes objects like Fornax Cluster (S373), Dorado and Eridanus clouds. • • The 4 Superclusters in Laniakea Supercluster move around common center of mass (Gdeat Attractor). But they are not Gravitationally Bounded. Due to Dark Energy, Laniakea Supercluster will be divided into 4 parts in the Near Future... • #learning #astronomy
