This video is intended to show how to properly demagnetize the tape heads on your reel to reel tape deck .➤Please Subscribe to my channel!! https://goo.gl/p1xmZJ • 1. Unplug the tape machine. • 2. Standing at least 2 feet away from the machine, plug in and turn on the demagger (also called a degausser). • 3. Slowly approach the machine, and starting from one side, slowly and methodically hold the tip of the demagger close to(but not touching) each metal part in the tape path. This demagger has a plastic cover, so it's less likely to cause a problem if they touch. • 4. After holding nearby for a few seconds, slowly pull away from the machine. • 5. Now approach the next part, slowly and methodically. Hold. Slowly pull away. • 6. Repeat for every metal part in the tape path. • 7. Slowly walk away at least 3 feet from the machine and turn off the demagger. You're done! • These are the directions that come with the teac E-3 degausser. • Use this technique for any Teac, Tascam, Akai, Ampex, Sony, or webcor machine. It's even recommended for cassette decks. • (Note: the sound in the video is the reaction of the demagger getting close to the camera microphone!)
