What really put acorns on the map was what they call their automated roundup investing. Now since then, we've seen this model from other investing platforms and even some banks that will automatically round up your purchases and save that money but essentially the automated roundups feature from acorns allows your purchases with the acorns debit card to be rounded up to the nearest whole dollar and automatically invested for you. As far as where your money is going to be invested, Acorns keeps it pretty simple, and basically, you're just going to choose one of their five portfolios that range from conservative and go all the way up to aggressive. Acorns currently has three different account options that all have flat monthly fees starting with acorns light which is $1.00 per month, the personal account which is $3 per month and adds the checking account option and retirement options as well, and the family account which is $5 per month and adds on custodial account options. • Moving on from there we have what I use for my investments and that would be the Wealthfront investing platform. Wealthfront works in a very similar way in that you pick from several different portfolios and they're going to automatically invest that money for you but It works a little bit differently. First of all, you're not just going to randomly pick from the various portfolios, they're actually going to have you take a short little survey when you first open your account that is going to help you assess where your level of risk is at and based on that, they are going to recommend a portfolio to you based on what they call your risk score. • Betterment is going to work in the same way as the other platforms in the sense that it is going to automatically be investing your money in a catered portfolio. And again you're going to have several different investment options including IRA’s, 401K rollovers, personal and joint accounts including education options and trusts as well. So as far as the features are concerned, they are very similar to Wealthfront but if you would like me to do an entire video on the betterment platform then let me know down in the comment section below. For starters, they're going to have their digital option which is the basic investing plan that is going to automatically invest your money for you with their computer portfolio and that has a management fee of 0.25% which is identical to Wealthfront. So on that basic package, everything is pretty much the same. However, they also have a premium account option that has a minimum investment balance of $100,000 and the investment fee is raised to 0.4%. • Music from Storyblocks Audio and YouTube Audio Library • Magnified Money may receive compensation for sending traffic to partnered sites.
