Today we take a look at an orchid I have been waiting to see in person for the longest time: the wonderful sanderiana! • ▼▼▼More info below!▼▼▼ • Vanda (Euanthe) sanderiana is an orchid species native to the Philippines, where it was ALMOST declared as the national flower. There it is more popularly known as Waling-waling. More on this orchid here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waling-... and here http://www.orchidspecies.com/euanthes... • This orchid is an iconic specimen in orchid collection, but has been hard to obtain until recent years due to its high price. Nowadays it is more and more available and affordable! • The flowers are pink on the colored variety, with a maroon burgundy tessellation on its sepals. There is also an alba variety which lacks the red pigments, displaying white and green shades. • It is not a fragrant orchid, but flowers are big (around 15 cm diameter) and stunning in person.
