We ran a message test on its home page, using data analysts and directors of data as the target audience. • Pecan gets many things right: • the copy is relatively straightforward in terms of what it is • the company demonstrates that it understands the problem space • making predictive analytics more accessible to non-data scientists is a compelling value prop • But its ClarityScore is 3.6/5, and interest to learn more is only 3.3/5. • What can Pecan do to improve? • Their ICP is tech-savvy and needs the messaging to go far beyond superficial claims. • 1. More specific focus, less drives business impact. • It is a very generic description. A clear focus is missing • 2. Explain the magic sauce and what's under the hood to the people. This is a technical audience; oversimplification backfires on them. • It's short on specifics of how the platform is implemented and what machine learning techniques it uses, which makes me think it is very early stage. • 3. Lofty promises have burned people, so address the objections head-on. Automated data prep is an example of something people really want, but are calling bullshit on. • I highly doubt they can automate full data prep.
