It’s a university city proud of it’s Scottish and Maori heritage, Victorian and Edwardian architecture and student population. Hiking and cycling trails crisscross the dramatic rugged Otago Peninsula which is also home to albatross colonies, rare yellow-eyed penguins and sea lions. The coastal city offers easy access to many beaches, the most popular being St Kilda and St Clair with their white sand, great swimming, surfing and seaside cafes.
