Het Gemeentemuseum Den Haag beschikt over een van de mooiste en grootste collecties Delfts aardewerk ter wereld. Dat mag gezien worden, dus vanaf december 2012 presenteert het museum vol trots een permanente presentatie over dit belangrijke culturele erfgoed. In de stijlkamers kom je alles te weten over de spannende geschiedenis van Delfts aardewerk. Naast het welbekende blauwwitte Delfts zijn ook kakelbonte exemplaren te zien en behalve fantasie prikkelende tulpenvazen worden ook eenvoudige borden getoond en zelfs een Nijntje spaarpot. Een installatie laat zien dat ook hedendaagse ontwerpers zich door de voorbeelden van weleer laten inspireren. • http://www.gemeentemuseum.nl/tentoons... • • ENGLISH: • Gemeentemuseum Den Haag possesses one of the largest and finest collection of Delftware in the world. • These unique pieces feature in an enchanting new exhibition that was opened on 1 December 2012. Delft Blue pottery was first created in the city around 1660, when Vermeer painted his famous View of Delft. The magnificent pieces produced in those early days will be on display in all their glory this winter. • The permanent exhibition View of Delftware, comprising over 235 items, will be a dynamic presentation that gives a unique view of the Delftware industry through the ages. The highlights of the collection include a number of tulip vases. These impressive pieces, with spouts to hold tulips, were a fusion of Eastern and Western forms, decorative motifs and Asian porcelain. • The Delftware produced centuries ago continues to fascinate. The Gemeentemuseum will also be showing how contemporary designers are still inspired by the Delftware of yesteryear.
