There are two primary way to sharpen a chainsaw chain in the filed: with a hand file or a grinder. The file is great for a quick tune up. In about 10 minutes your chain will be as good as new. A grinder spins a stone that is the same size as a file. This is the down and dirty rapid solution for getting razor sharp edges, but it will considerably shorten the lifetime of your chain. • I took a lot of trial and error to figure out what works best for me.
