Imagine you're playing your favorite game, but suddenly, your character's movements become sluggish. You try to jump, but you can't quite reach the platform. You want to run, but your legs just won't cooperate. That's a bit like what it's like for people living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). SMA is a rare genetic disease that affects the nerves responsible for muscle movement. It weakens muscles, making it difficult to walk, talk, eat, and even breathe. The severity of SMA varies depending on the type, but it can have a significant impact on a person's quality of life. It can be challenging to navigate daily tasks, and it may require the use of wheelchairs, ventilators, and other assistive devices. • I'm a disabled gamer with SMA Type 2, a CureSMA Streaming Ambassador, and Accountant. I play most of the latest laid back games, currently playing a legacy challenge on Sims 4, Disney's Dreamlight Valley Random Friday. I stream Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5-5:30pm after my day job. We're a laid back, fun loving, group of besties and I happily accept new friends and game suggestions.
