The front facade has been designed to extend past the container envelope to create depth visually by softening the front steel profile with natural timber panelling, but it also serves a functional purpose by housing services and structure. The off-form geometry of the walls contrasts the linear geometry of the shipping container, and it has created a neat eave overhang for that extra little bit of protection from the elements! The eave also holds the automatic cassette awning which folds out for additional shading. On the other end of the container cafe is a servery window with an automatic roller shutter plus a removable exterior timber counter. Entering through the 4.8m bi-fold doors, you will find the entire inside of the container is lined with insulated panelling to cut down the external heat.
