The school is located in the city of Rio de Janeiro and originated from diverse hills of Tijuca. The school was champion of the Special Carnival in 1936, 2010 and 2012. • As opposed to the paid performances during Carnival's Samba School competitions, this February 3rd rehearsal performance was open to the public for free, is performed by the winner of the previous year's competitions and is the last rehearsal before the official competitions. Because this is a rehearsal, the performers are not wearing their costumes and there are no floats. • To cover the performance, Paul arrived at the Sambadromo around 6:00 pm. While the performance was scheduled to start at 8:00 pm., it started late at around 10:00 pm and ended at about 11:15 pm. As the viewer can see, during this long wait, the fans' enthusiasm remained high even though they waited in the heat and intermittent rain showers. • Paul's Rio Carnival 2013 coverage is truly unique because of its incredible comprehensiveness.
