• The Story of Britainian's Bats | 165... • Bats, though much-maligned, have declined alarmingly in recent years. They are most abundant in the tropics, with around 900 species worldwide, but Britain has only about a dozen breeding species and a few rare migrants. All British bats are insectivorous, with a single pipistrelle consuming up to 3,000 insects in a night, making them beneficial for pest control. • Protected by law, it is illegal to kill bats or disturb their roosts. They often roost in old buildings without causing issues, and their droppings decompose quickly into powder. If concerned about bats, seek advice from your local Bat Group, Wildlife Trust, or Natural England. • All Britain’s bats hibernate, usually from the end of October until late March or early April. Some species will make short winter flights, often during the day. Bat boxes are readily adopted by many species, either as summer roosts or nurseries, or for hibernation. • / theofficialfactsfinity • / theofficialfactsfinity • / theofficialfactsfinity • #SaveTheBats #ProtectBats #BatConservation #BatsNeedHomes #BatFriendly #InsectEaters #BatProtection #BatsAreBeneficial #SupportBats #BatHabitats #BatRoosts #BatBoxes #HelpTheBats #BatAwareness #BatsMatter #BatHibernation #BatsInBuildings #BatEducation #UKBats #BatFacts #FactsFinity #TheOfficialFactsFinity #science #factsfinity #world #2024 #information #informationalvideos #sciencefiction #education #learning #mind #worldfacts #worldfactsshorts
