Classic infectious croup symptoms include hoarseness, a seal-like barking cough, and stridor. Hoarseness is not essential, but is commonly seen. In contrast, hoarseness does not typically occur with epiglottitis or foreign body aspiration. The stridor is usually inspiratory, but may also be expiratory if the lower airways become involved. Symptoms often worsen at night; parents may report that during the day their child only had mild respiratory tract infection symptoms. Symptoms are also exacerbated by agitation, special care should be taken to avoid disturbing the child. • 📺 Subscribe To My Channel and Get More Great Quizzes and Tutorials • / @med4vl • Disclaimer: All the information provided by Medical Education for Visual Learners and associated videos are strictly for informational purposes only.
