Thank you! • [click ↓ SHOW MORE ↓ just below, to reveal Imagine Indiana IMAX movie description] • This used to play at the CineDome in the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. It was made just for them. It would run before the show, and it always made more of an impact on me than the featured film. • The scenes were all incredibly much more engrossing with the vivid detail and full peripheral immersion of that IMAX theater. You actually had to look left, right, up, and down to catch all the things happening on their special bowl-shaped screen. Sadly, they closed it years ago, and our other IMAX screens are flat. Plus, the film is not shown anywhere now. (You may notice an odd fish-eye look to some scenes. That's because the film was made specifically for their bowl-shaped screen. Of course, that screen would cancel out the fish-eye effect and make the image perfect.) There are IMAX dome screens, and there are plain flat IMAX screens. To me there is no comparison. • Good strong sound is critical for watching this clip. Headphones or speakers turned up a bit are recommended. • The video clarity is VERY compromised compared to the original, but the sound is still decent. The many faces that are now only a blur in this version, were literally as unique and interesting as faces from a Norman Rockwell painting in the original. I always found myself studying the faces, in fact. And the Indy 500 scenes and aerial scenes which were originally truly stunning, are now admittedly somewhat ho-hum in this comparatively lifeless and blurry version. • Still, you have no idea how nostalgic I find this short to be. Notice the music during the State Fair 4-H owner/animal portraits. As I mentioned, you could very easily tell that these people were family, in the high-clarity original version. • Suffice it to say, that by the time this short was over I usually had a lump in my throat, wistful of my own memories. I always thought that was kinda their point. • I hope you enjoy it. • ____________________________________ • • I found these bits on the web: • The OMNIMAX experience is quite different from that of a regular IMAX theater. The image wraps around both sides of the viewer and upward as well, which can give the impression one is actually inside the scene being projected. (A plain IMAX screen is large but does not create such a natural feeling of immersion because the viewer is aware that the scene ends where the rectangular walls and ceiling begin.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMAX • IMAGINE INDIANA, a five minute signature film produced exclusively for The Children's Museum, is presented before every feature film. IMAGINE INDIANA highlights the children and events of central Indiana including second graders playing basketball in the Athenaeum, children riding the carousel and posing with 4-H animals at the State Fair, the Indianapolis Children's Choir singing in the Capitol rotunda, aerials of downtown Indianapolis, time-lapse photography of the museum's Welcome Center, the Indianapolis 500 and other exciting locations, picturesque journey across central Indiana. • http://sacredplanet.bigmoviezone.com/... • ____________________________________ • • The short was more memorable to many Hoosier moviegoers than the featured movies it introduced.
