Is the Sabbath still relevant for Christians today? • In Eden, God made the 7th Day #Sabbath a holy day of rest before the fall of man (Gen 2:2-3). Moses merely inherited the Sabbath Day (Ex 20:8-11). #Jesus declared Himself “Lord of The Sabbath” (Mark 2:27-28) prophesied it being kept in #EndTimes (Matt 24:20). Sabbath is named the “Lord’s Holy Day” in Isa 58:13, is the “Lord’s Day” John refers to (Rev 1:10). • Moreover, Jesus resurrected on Sunday “Firstfruits” Feast not the Saturday 7th Day Sabbath (1 Cor 15:20). Even John Calvin states we translated Paul’s letter to Corinth incorrectly, the church gathered to take up a monthly offering “every first Sabbath” not “first day” (1 Cor 16:2). • Hebrews 4:6-11 is referring to our eternal Sabbath and affirms we have not yet entered that Sabbath hence compelling Believers to “make every effort to enter that rest.” (v11) • Hebrews 4:9,11 • [9] There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; [11] Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience. • Colossians 2:16-18 is an encouragement to the Sabbath and Feast keeping Christian Greeks not to become discouraged when they’re judged by those who “worship angels” (v18); aka the Jews who rejected the Messiah and practiced Kabalistic worship of heavenly beings. • Moreover, Paul affirmed that keeping the feasts helped the Greeks to understand the spiritual realities they foreshadow (1 Cor 5:7-8, 1 Cor 15:20-23). • The Early Church kept the feasts and Sabbath until Emperor Constantine legislated against them and declared Sunday the true Sabbath around 325 AD. He also erroneously stated Mount Sinai was in the Egyptian Peninsula, now named “Sinai Peninsula” when in fact Mount Sinai is, to this day, in Arabia, now Saudi Arabia.
