The city of Eilat on the shores of the Red Sea in southern Israel is overwhelmed by thousands of people who have arrived in recent days. • About 60,000 evacuees have arrived here, putting a strain on the city. They left other parts of Israel as part of the government’s plan to move people from the south, especially areas near the Gaza Strip. • People have also been evacuated from northern Israel, where the fighting with Hezbollah has intensified in recent days. So far, the Israeli government has evacuated about 200,000 people. • The evacuation is not without challenges. • Evacuation was halted in northern Israel because there were no more hotel rooms left to accommodate the evacuees. • Al Jazeera’s Teresa Bo reports from Eilat in Southern Israel. • Subscribe to our channel http://bit.ly/AJSubscribe • Follow us on Twitter / ajenglish • Find us on Facebook / aljazeera • Check our website: https://www.aljazeera.com/ • Check out our Instagram page: / aljazeeraenglish • Download AJE Mobile App: https://aje.io/AJEMobile • #Israel #IsraelGazaWar #IsraelHamasWar #SouthernIsraelEvacuation #SouthIsrael #Eilat • #OperationSwordsOfIron #Ashkelon #Sderot #Ashdod #IsraelAtWar
