On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (November 29th, 2016) John Campea, Jeremy Jahns, Mark Ellis, Kristian Harloff, Ashley Mova and Wendy Lee discuss the following: • -More Ghostbusters movies in development according to Ivan Reitman • -Interview with the Vampire movie cancelled • -Opening this week • -New images released of Rita Repulsa in Power Rangers • -Leslie Mann and John Cena to star in Apatow produced The Pact • -Tom Holland joins Daisy Ridley in Chaos Walking • -Christopher Nolan • -Rogue One • The release of Ghostbusters this summer was intended to jump-start the franchise again but unfortunately didn’t hit with audiences and box office like Sony had hoped. As of now, no other movies appear to be on the horizon however, according to the director of the first two original Ghostbuster films, that may not be the case. Speaking to the Mr. Wavy podcast, via a report from Slash Film, Ivan Reitman did offer Ghostbusters fan a small glimmer of hope saying there's going to be many other Ghostbusters movies, they’re just in development right now. • Back in August of 2014, Universal and Imagine secured the rights to the Anne Rice vampire book series The Vampire Chronicles. The studio then planned an interconnected movie series with the first movie to be a reboot of Interview with the Vampire, written and directed by The Fault in Our Stars helmer Josh Boone. Now, that planned has been scrapped as Rice herself took to Facebook to announce that she has regained the theatrical rights to The Vampire Chronicles, adding that she now plans to turn the books into a prestige TV series. • OPENING THIS WEEK • WOULD YOU RATHER • Lionsgate has released a couple new images of Rita Repulsa from the upcoming Power Rangers. Featuring Elizabeth Banks as the film’s villain, Rita will soon do battle with five ordinary high school kids from the small town of Angel Grove. Directed by Project Almanac’s Dean Israelite, the movie is set to hit theatres on March 24th, 2017. • Variety reports that Leslie Mann and John Cena will join Ike Barinholtz in The Pact, produced by Point Grey’s Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The film follows three parents who, upon discovering that their daughters have made a pact to lose their virginities on prom night, go out and try and stop them before it’s too late. No release date has been set. • According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is set to join Daisy Ridley in Lionsgate‘s Chaos Walking. Holland will play the role of Todd Hewlitt, a boy living in a post-apocalyptic world where everyone can hear everyone else’s thoughts with constant, never-ending Noise; and a germ has supposedly killed all the women. One month from his birthday, Todd stumbles upon a spot of complete silence where he encounters Daisy Ridley’s Viola.
