Does betta fish need a filter? The straightforward answer is, yes, it does! • Every fish on this planted should get a filter in its tank. The issue with betta fish is it doesn’t prefer a heavy flow, so you have to maintain a low flow to keep the fish in an ideal environment. But it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t add a filter to the tank. Without a filter, there’s a high risk of ammonia spike, even if you do regular water changes.
