Old Friend No. 1 - Allen Heath GS3 has left home. • This is a detailed checkout of the signal routings on my veteran Allen Heath GS3 audio mixing console. A 5-minute 'overview' version of the video is posted elsewhere on my channel if you can't stand to watch all 38 minutes of this riveting production! • It is clear that some electrolytic capacitors in the unit, especially those associated with the input gain control need replacement, and that some pan pots need attention. • The RAM sustaining rechargeable battery in the MIDI muting processor also needs replacement - preferably with a modern button cell or supercapacitor - although this is not essential unless the ability to store 'mute scenes' between power-cycles is required. • A few years ago, I purchased a replacement ribbon cable assembly with its 18 or so IDC sockets as the original one had gone intermittent and channels would go missing off the bus. I was fortunate enought to snap up one of the last remaining spare assemblies, and found their service department very helpful.
