LAFC and Philadelphia Union, the top-seeded teams in their respective conferences, collided at Banc of California Stadium in the 2022 MLS Cup Final. In the first half, LAFC was able to score on a free-kick by Kellyn Acosta in the 28th minute. Daniel Gazdag responded for Philadelphia with the equalizer in the 59th minute. Jesús Murillo followed with a header in the 83rd minute but Jack Elliott followed with a header of his own in the 85th minute to make the score 2-2. Jack Elliott would score again with a goal in the 120th minute +4 while Gareth Bale - who replaced Carlos Vela - notched the equalizer in the 120th +8. The game would go to penalties and ultimately LAFC would go on to win on Ilie Sánchez's goal.
