Col-Tecs (https://www.col-tec.net/) signature collator has been adapted to create a versatile design. The signature collator is design to collate any and all types of folded sections. As the video demonstrates multiple folded items are being collated, emphasising that all manner of folded sections can be collated in this most versatile of gathering machines. The Col-Tec signature collator is perfect for collating heavy and bulky items such as signatures, stitched and perfect bound books etc. Signature collators, depending on the stack depth being collated and the number of feeders being used can be operated up to speeds of 4000 cycles per hour. • • The collator has been adapted to contain deep pile feeders with adjustable backs and side guides so the product is supported the entire depth of its stack. The signature collator has an automatic tilt adjustable deep pile feed tables to allow the feeders to be stacked to a good depth by maintaining a straight level at the pick-up edge. When stacking material, the angle of the table automatically compensates for any bulking at the spine. These deep pile feeders are a standard feature of the Col-Tec signature collator. • Depending on the thickness of the collated sets the height of the transport conveyor flites can be supplied anywhere between 30 to 70 mm. In extreme cases, to handle books sets up to 140 mm, it is possible to provide a customised conveyor to handle this. With automatic conveyor knock-up belts, a well registered set is transferred over to the in-line Exit Delivery Conveyor/Stacker. The collated sets in multiple stacks with each stack between 70 and 100 mm will be collected by the EDC unit. The EDC will automatically move forward one position along the conveyor when the first stacking position is full. With a combined depth of up to 800mm, the EDC can be supplied with 4, 6 or 8 stacking positions. This new technology allows the EDC to be easily and safely uploaded without the need to stop the collator. The machine is also able to alert the operator by stopping when all stacking positions are full. If required an optional offset stacking facility to separate each collated set can be added as required. • Continuous production between 3,000 and 4,000 cycles per hour can be achieved subject to the number of feed stations chosen with a standard format being 320 x 350 mm with a minimum size of 148 x 210 mm. Larger or smaller formats can be accommodated if required. • The Col-Tec signature collator is perfect for companies looking to add low cost automatic gatherers as their primary collator or, as an addition to their existing perfect binding lines that are either fully occupied with work or take too long to change for short run jobs.
