4 Tasty uses for Nutmeg

Trying something a bit different we wanted to share some really tasty ways to use one of our personal favourite ingredients - Nutmeg! It's so under-utilized that we wanted to showcase some delicious ways you could spice up some of your upcoming meals. • Recipe #1 - Pork Roast • Ingredients: • 1 boneless pork rib roast (any boneless roast will do) • 2 teaspoons garlic powder • 2 teaspoons thyme • 2 teaspoons paprika • 1 teaspoon nutmeg • 1 teaspoon salt • Set-up • Pre-heat oven to 375°F. • 1. Pat pork dry with paper towel. • 2. Mix garlic powder, thyme, paprika, nutmeg and salt. • 3. Coat pork well with spice mix. • 4. Bake in oven at 375°F for 50 minutes or until meat thermometer reads 145°F. • 5. Enjoy! • • Recipe #2 - Butternut Squash • Ingredients: • 1 butternut squash • 1 tablespoon olive oil • 2 teaspoons rosemary • 2 teaspoons nutmeg • 1 teaspoon salt • Set-up • Pre-heat oven to 375°F. • 1. Peel butternut squash • 2. Cut into 1 inch cubes. • 3. Coat with olive oil. • 4. Add rosemary, nutmeg and salt, toss to coat. • 5. Bake in oven at 375°F for 45 minutes or until tender, turning half way through. • 6. Enjoy! • • Recipe #3 - Carrots • Ingredients: • 5 carrots • 1 tablespoon olive oil • 2 teaspoons thyme • 2 teaspoons nutmeg • 1 teaspoon salt • Set-up • Pre-heat oven to 450°F. • 1. Peel carrots. • 2. Cut into slices. • 3. Coat with olive oil. • 4. Add salt, nutmeg and thyme, toss to coat. • 5. Bake in oven at 450°F for 10 minutes. • 6. Remove and stir, bake again for 15-20 minutes. • 7. Enjoy! • Recipe #4 - Mashed Potatoes • Ingredients: • 7 potatoes (we used russet but pick your favorite) • 1 tablespoon margarine (or butter) • 1/4 cup - 1/2 cup milk (depends on your desired creaminess, use your eye to judge and add more if needed) • 2 teaspoons nutmeg • 1 teaspoon salt • Set-up • Set a pot of water boiling. • 1. Peel potatoes. • 2. Cut roughly into thirds. • 3. Boil in the pot of water for 25-30 minutes until fork tender. • 4. Drain and return potatoes to pot. • 5. Add margarine, milk, nutmeg and salt. • 6. Mash well adding in more milk as needed to reach desired consistency. • 6.a. If the potatoes become too liquid, return to heat and stir while cooking out extra liquid. • 7.
