The Natives of La Florida did not have written languages. So, the Franciscan Friars who worked among the Timucua people of the northeast area of the peninsula provided them one by writing out the sounds of spoken Timucuan in Spanish consonants and vowels. Thus we have this example, The Lord's Prayer (the letter 'e' is pronounced as a long 'a'). • Museum Display at the National Shrine of La Leche in Nombre de Dios Mission in Saint Augustine, Florida. • https://missionandshrine.org/ • Please subscribe to our Channel: Mercedarian Friars USA
