http://www.legendarystrength.com - Learn how to do Hindu squats and the proper form to do so. Hindu squats are a great way to build leg strength, flexibility and conditioning, especially for beginners. • In the previous video I covered the regular bodyweight squat form. Now we are gonna go onto another common bodyweight squat, known as a hindu squat. Hindu squats were made hugely popular by Matt Furey and he is the person that I personally learned how to do a hindu squat. In this movement, unlike in the normal bodyweight squat where the heels stay planted, here we're intentionally coming up on our toes. As we are doing that, the legs are going to come forward as we descend into this bottom position. • So, with hindu squats exercise you're probably go a little closer with your feet than the other bodyweight squat, because you want your legs just basically inside your body. Here you want your toes and your knees pointing straight forward, so they are not going out to the sides at all. You need to keep a really upright back for a proper hindu squat workout. As you come down, you have a complete bend in the knees and they are extended far forward, your upper body is align just right over your toes and your heels. • Although this is the classic and the best form for it, I haven't seen anyone maintaining this strict of form when doing the high repetitions, that are usually done with the hindu squats. What usually happens is that you end up getting some amount of lean forward in the bottom position. This isn't a bad thing, this allow use of lower back to some degree and some people end up getting a big pump as they do hindu squat exercises for high reps. Once again, it's not a problem but just try and strive for as upright of a back as possible when you're doing this. • Along with the leg movement, there is a rowing motion done with the hands. So, at the top position you breath in as you pull your arms back and as you come down, the arms come down, and the fingertips should just raise the ground and then swing back up. You explode a little bit with your out breath there. • For more information on handstands, acrobatics and bodyweight training check out these great books on Amazon: • • Bodyweight Exercises teaches you a foundation and how to build strength from it in bodyweight training for the whole body - http://tinyurl.com/d8wsoxk • • The True Art and Science of Hand Balancing was written by two of the best hand balancers ever, Professor Paulinetti and Bob Jones creators and innovators of many moves like the One Arm Planche and Thumb Stand - http://tinyurl.com/c9xt3pf • • The Ultimate Guide to Handstand Pushups for building strength with this great exercise from your first rep to banging out full range handstand pushups - http://tinyurl.com/bqq76e3
